Luke Ronchi who scored 99 in the first One-Day International (ODI) against South Africa said that he didn’t want his knock to be a one-off. The 33-year old batsman narrowly missed out on a century, and formed a face-saving 74-run 10th wicket partnership with Trent Boult.
“I felt pretty good. There was a little period where Steyn and [Morne] Morkel were bowling to us and we couldn’t quite do what we wanted to. But outside of that I felt pretty relaxed in the situation and just tried to bat for as long as possible. For any player you want to make runs and start the summer off well. I’m no different, I want to do as well as I possibly can with the opportunities I’ve been given. Today was one of them but I don’t want it to be a one-off. I’d like to do it more and more and help this team win games.”, he was quoted as saying by stuff.co.nz.
“It’s a natural thing. Sometimes I get a bit excited when things are going well and play shots I possibly shouldn’t play and get away with them, and roll with it. I just make the most of the situation I’m in. If it needs me to bat for longer then I’ll try my best and if it’s there to whack I’ll try to give it a bit of a tap.”, he added.
