Luke Wright smashes 153 in 66 balls for Sussex Sharks

All-rounder Luke Wright broke the England domestic record by smashing the a T20 century to help Sussex Sharks chase down Essex Eagles’ 225 in 18.3 overs in the NatWest T20 Blast at Chelmsford on Friday. Wright smashed an unbeaten 153 in only 66 deliveries involving 12 fours and 11 sixes. This is also the highest domestic score in an innings. Click Here for list highest individual scores in T20

 

Sussex had won the toss and elected to field. Opener Jesse Ryder set the tone of the match with a blazing 75 in 37 deliveries. But the star for Essex was Tom Westley who hit a 58-ball 109 which featured 12 boundaries and five sixes. A push from skipper Ryan Ten Doeschate in the end along with Westley’s ton helped Essex register the highest total of 225 for three. But that was only part one of the storm.

 

In reply, Sussex lost two quick wickets Chris Nash for duck and Craig Cachopa for 10. Wright was in a different level altogether tonking the ball all around the park.

 

Wright’s fierce hitting helped him reach his century in only 26 balls and he got to his hundred in 47 balls which involved 11 fours and five sixes. In the next five overs, Wright hammered six sixes and a four to help Sussex cruise to the target of 226.
