Sri Lankan batsman Mahela Jayawardene has completed 7,000 Test runs on home soil. he achieved the milestone during the second Test between Sri Lanka and South Africa at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC), Colombo. Jayawardene had reached his 34th Test ton on Day One. That was also his 11th Test ton at the SSC. Jayawardene is the leading run-scorer in Sri Lanka and the next best is Kumar Sangakkara with 6,238 runs. Jayawardene now has crossed 150.
Jayawardene has announced his retirement from Test cricket and this is his penultimate series. The Test series against Pakistan that follows will be his last for Sri Lanka. However, he will continue to play in One-Day Internationals (ODIs), leading up to the 2015 World Cup.
