Mahela Jayawardene scored a superb Test century against South Africa in the second Test at Colombo.  In this innings, he has already played some great shots throughout the ground and continuously attacked the spinners. Imran Tahir was also thrashed for 92 runs in his 23 overs, JP Duminy was hit for a few boundaries as well.

The way Jayawardene was batting; it was quite obvious that he did not want the bowlers to settle down for a single moment. He steadied the Sri Lankan innings by building a partnership with Angelo Matthews, who also went on to score a half-century.

Sri Lanka posted a total 305 for 5 at the end of Day One. They will look to build on to this commanding position that they put themselves in. Jayawardene is still batting at 140 runs. He is at the crease with Niroshan Dickwella, who took most of the strike as Jayawardene started cramping towards the day break.

With Jayawardene at the crease, Sri Lanka might score another 150 odd runs which will put tremendous amount of pressure on the South Africans. On the other hand Jayawardene will also look to get a big double hundred in one of his favourite grounds.

After the days play, he thanked his fans on a social networking website Twitter. He also said that he enjoyed his knock thouroughly and would like to score few more runs for his team.

Thank you so much for all the wishes. Really enjoyed the knock today. Hope we can get few more tomorrow. Big day! Good night every one .
