New Zealand seamer Mark Gillespie will replace the injured Adam Milne in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming tour to South Africa after the latter was advised rest.
Milne suffered an Achilles injury in a domestic match between the Central Districts’ Plunket Shield and Wellington. Despite the injury not being severe, the pacer was advised rest by the New Zealand medical team, said a APNZ news service report.
The pacer’s fitness will be monitored by the New Zealand Cricket and Central Districts medical staff.
The national selection manager was quoted by The New Zealand Herald as saying, “It is disappointing for Adam to suffer an injury, however, it does present a great opportunity for Mark.
“Mark has an impressive record in South Africa and the conditions will suit his aggressive style of pace bowling.”
New Zealand take on South Africa in the first of three T20 match series on December 21.
