With the Intercontinental Cup fixtures round the corner, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) have appointed Dean Jones as the interim head coach. The side will play their first match against Hong Kong from October 20 in the First-Class tournament. There is a possibility that Jones’ role as head coach could be extended in the near future. On his appointment, former Australian batsman and now national selector Mark Waugh took a dig at his former teammate.

It all started when Jones tweeted about his new role. Replying to it, Waugh asked, “Did ICC and ACB have just one applicant for the role?” Jones was quick to respond to his ‘Funny Bugger’. Jones asked Waugh to concentrate on his assigned role and pick the right players, “Funny bugger!! Glad you could play! Concentrate on selection I reckon :P .”
