Mirpur: Dec 5, 2012
A 111-run partnership led by century by Marlon Samuels guided West Indies to a four-wicket win over Bangladesh in the third One-Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh at Mirpur on Wednesday.
Samules hit 17 boundaries and two sixes as the visitors reached the target with three overs to spare.
Earlier, West Indies had restricted Bangladesh to 227 in 49.1. Spinner Sunil Narine starred with the ball picking up 4 wickets for only 35 runs in his nine overs.
The hosts got off to a good start as the openers Tamim Iqbal (22) and Aanmul Haque (33) added 57 runs for the opening wicket in 12.2 overs. However, some disciplined bowling by the visitors reduced them to 110 for five before Mahmuddullah came to the rescue scoring a well-constructed half-century.
This win comes for the West Indies after losing the first two ODIs to the hosts convincingly. Bangladesh lead the five-match ODI series 5-0.
Brief scores: Bangladesh 227 all-out in 49.1 overs (Mahamuddulah 52, Mushfiqur Rahim 38; Sunil Narine 4 for 35) lost to West Indies 228 for 6 in 47 overs (Marlon Samuels 126, Kieran Powell 47; Abdur Razzak 2 for 34) by 4 wickets.
