Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced former Sri Lanka captain Marvan Atapattu as their head coach with immediate effect.

Atapattu will be the head coach for the upcoming tours of Ireland, England and South Africa’s tour of Sri Lanka. He will be replacing Paul Farbrace who had a short and successful stint as the Sri Lanka coach guiding them to victories in the Asia Cup and ICC World T20 2014 in Bangladesh.

Ruwan Kalpage will be assisting him with the job as he was announced as the Interim Assistant Coach.

Marvan Attapattu was considered the most technically perfect Sri Lankan batsman and played 90 Tests and 268 One Day Internationals for Sri Lanka.
