Mashrafe Mortaza advises Mustafizur Rahman to miss IPL 2017
Bangladesh limited-overs skipper Mashrafe Mortaza recently commented on Mustafizur Rahman’s fitness, saying the bowler should opt out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017.
Bangladesh limited-overs skipper Mashrafe Mortaza recently commented on Mustafizur Rahman’s fitness, saying the bowler should opt out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2017. Mortaza has cited Mashrafe’s need to remain fit for Bangladesh’s upcoming events. With T20 league less than fortnight away, if the bowler follows the advice of his national captain, it will be a big blow for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the franchise for which Mustafizur plays. Mustafizur has spent adequate time out of the field due to his persisting injuries, and had recently made a comeback in to the national side with Bangladesh’s series in New Zealand. Mustafizur was among the key players for SRH the previous season. The off-cutter specialist made his IPL debut the previous season, picking up 17 wickets from 16 matches he played and contributed in bulk to help SRH lift the trophy for the first time. Among his best spells in the season was a 3-wicket-haul. Mustafizur is the sixth Bangladesh player to have represented any IPL franchise, and was only the second Bangladesh cricketer (apart from Shakib Al Hasan) to play in season nine of IPL.
Mustafizur picked up shoulder injury in July 2016, while playing for Sussex in England. The bowler went through a successful surgery later in August but only resumed to national duties with the series in New Zealand, picking up two wickets on return.
The 10th season of IPL will start from April 5, 2017 with the finalists SRH and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) locking horns.
