Bangladesh One-Day International (ODI) captain Mashrafe Mortaza injured his ankle during a practice session of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise Comilla Victorians on Friday. “It’s nothing serious,” Mortaza said on Friday, reports bdnews24.com. His career has been plagued by serious injuries over the years. His team was practising at Mirpur Academy grounds. Comilla Victorians will face Dhaka Dynamites on Sunday in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). “It’s just a slight pain… I hope to resume practice from tomorrow,” Mashrafe added. Mortaza recenly led Bangladesh into series wins against India, Pakistan, South Africa and two series against Zimbabwe He also led Bangladesh into their first ever World Cup knockout stage in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. This does not come as good news as he also had dengue early in October but he managed to regain fitness ahead of their series against Zimbabwe. Mashrafe was taken to the Apollo Hospital, reports bdnews24.com. “He still has high fever,” a friend of Mortaza told bdnews24.com. He will not be able to play matches in the national league’s third round because of the illness. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) physician Debashish Chowdhury said they were yet to get details of his condition. “It’s been confirmed that he has been diagnosed with dengue,” he said. “I’ve spoken with the doctor at the hospital.”Mashrafe’s one-year-old son Sohel, too, has been suffering from high fever for the past several days.
