MCC vs RoW: Yuvraj Singh motoring towards ton as RoW stable; Paul Collingwood dismissed

Jul 5, 2014

Yuvraj Singh’s remarkable partnership with Paul Collingwood has helped Rest of the World XI recover against Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). Yuvraj is now in the 80s and would be eyeing that century. In 37 overs, RoW are 199 for six. At one stage they were 68 for five.

The game is played more in a festive spirit than a competitive one. Brian Lara had a chance of Yuvraj when he tried to pull Shaun Tait but it went high in the air on the off-side. And, it fell in no man’s land as Lara did not really pursue it. And then the batting powerplay was taken and Ajmal came. Yuvraj finally hit a boundary off Ajmal as he pulled a short one through square-leg. Collingwood was moving about stably, but with the fielders in, he lofted Brett Lee over cover for a four.

Lee then got an edge off Collingwood and he was taken well by Rahul Dravid to his right. Collingwood scored 40.
