Australia coach Mickey Arthur on Thursday said that their team has the best all-round bowling attack currently in world cricket.
“We’ve got the best all-round bowling attack in world cricket. I’m talking depth wise. That’s a massive boost for us,” Arthur said.
He further said that Australia have a very good chance of winning the upcoming Ashes series if the batsmen too start performing well.
“If we play for the badge it’s going to be extremely powerful, and if our batsmen get enough runs we’ve got a really good chance in this Ashes series because I’m confident we’re going to get 20 wickets,” he said.
The Australian coach said they would be looking to work on rthe weaknesses of the English players that were exposed last summer by South Africa who beat them and took over the top ranking in Tests.
“Last year when South Africa put England under pressure for extended periods of time we saw a couple of cracks develop. That’s our challenge,” Arthur was quoted as saying by the Guardian.
Talking about David Warner’s attack on Joe Root and the Machiavellian role played by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) along with the British press, Arthur said, “That’s part and parcel of touring England. You’ve got to be very street smart and on your game. If you don’t the ECB and the media will have a field day with you. We’ve got to be smarter, and make sure we make the right decisions. Unfortunately some guys are learning the hard ways, but you hope they’ll get better for it. We keep chipping away at that every day.”
