Former Pakistan batsman Rameez Raja said that Misbah-ul Haq needed to be more proactive in the third One-Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka at Dambulla.
“We have completely failed to restrict Jayawardene and Mathews in this series. He [Misbah] has been trying his spinners against them [Jayawardene and Mathews] and it has not brought him any success.”, Raja was quoted as saying by a private news channel. “One day we are top class and the other day we just fade away,”, he added.
“I don’t know why our bowlers don’t bowl many Yorkers.”, Raja said. He also said that Waqar Younis bowled brilliant yorkers, and with him as coach, the team should use the yorker as a weapon in death overs.
Pakistan won the first ODI of the three-match series by 4wickets (D/L method), with the help of a brilliant partnership between Sohaib Maqsood and Fawad Alam. However, they lost the second ODI by 77 runs.
