Mitchell McClenaghan’s record spell helps New Zealand keep South Africa to 208

South Africa were bowled out for 208 in 46.2 overs against New Zealand in the first One-Day International at Paarl on Saturday.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, New Zealand bowlers struck early to dismiss Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers with the score on 37 within 12 overs.
Mitchell McClenaghan picked up four wickets for 20 runs in his 10 overs. In doing so, he recorded the best bowling figures by a Kiwi on debut.
Faf du Plessis top-scored for the hosts with 57 runs, adding valuable partnerships with Quinton de Kock, Colin Ingram and Ryan McLaren to revive South Africa’s innings.
The Kiwis finally put up a competitive performance after being comprehensively beaten in the Tests and T20s.
