Mithali Raj became the first Indian, male or female, to reach the 2,000-run milestone in T20 Internationals. She reached the landmark with a single off Oshadi Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka Women in the 2018 Women’s Asia Cup T20 at Royal Selangor Club, Kuala Lumpur. Raj finished the day with 2,015 runs. The next Indian on the list across genders is Virat Kohli (1,983). India Women won the match comfortably, by 7 wickets with 7 balls to spare, and are currently placed at the top of the table. However, it is crucial that they win their final league match, against Pakistan Women. Below are the most runs by Indians in T20 Internationals:

Raj also became the 7th woman to reach the 2,000-run landmark. The list is headed by Charlotte Edwards (2,605), while Stafanie Taylor and Suzie Bates have also scored in excess of 2,500. Interestingly, no other woman has in excess of 1,600 T20I runs. In fact, Bismah Maroof (1,535) is the only other one with over 1,500 runs.

Raj also holds the record for most runs in Women’s ODIs (6,373), while Janette Brittin (1,935) has the most runs in Women’s Tests.
