The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) is going to felicitate Mithali Raj, the skipper of the Indian women’s cricket squad. India women fell short by 9 runs to lift their maiden World Cup in the recently-concluded ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 held in England They lost the summit clash to hosts, England, but won accolades from all parts of the world for their brilliant run.  Mithali and her side have been gaining limelight ever since returning home and have been showered with much love for their performances.

“HCA is very proud that Mithali Raj was able to lead the team well. Under very adverse circumstances they have been able to reach the finals,” said G Vivekanand, the association’s president, on Saturday. While the Railways, her employer, was going to felicitate her, Mithali had agreed to make time for HCA function later, he added. The Telangana government yesterday announced a cash prize of INR 1 crore and a house plot for Mithali. Vivekananda also informed that the prestigious Moin-ud-Dowla tournament would be organised this year as well, with an expected participation of eight to ten teams.

The tournament, with 50-over format, is likely to start on August 22, Vivekanand concluded.
