Essex have reportedly confirmed Mohammad Aamer‘s availability for their upcoming clash versus Somerset. Aamer was at his best in the previous clash for his county side, claiming 10 wickets against Yorkshire. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had requested their players to return from Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2017 and English domestic cricket to prepare for the ICC World XI and Sri Lanka series. Nonetheless, Aamer will fly back home and return after undergoing fitness and medical tests on special request by Essex to PCB.
Aamer had demolished Yorkshire’s line-up in Essex’s last tie. As a result, Essex are on top of the table with 41 points and eyeing their first title since 1992. Of course, they need Aamer, who has a knack of picking early wickets and boasts of a good record in English conditions.
On the other hand, Pakistan’s next assignment is a three-match T20 series versus World XI in Lahore. This will be a big occasion for them to host a series post the infamous terror attacks on Sri Lanka’s team bus during the 2009 tour to the subcontinent. The series will commence before September 17 in order to avoid clash with local elections.
