Mohammed Shami had made news for the wrong reasons over the past month. However, he has now been offered a Grade B annual contract by the Committee of Administrators (CoA). The investigation done by Anti Corruption Unit (ACU) proved that Shami had no wrongdoing on his part. Shami’s contract had been kept on a hold due to the investigation.

His wife Hasin Jahan had filed an FIR against  him which consisted of seven charges, including attempts to murder and rape. Hasin also claimed that Shami had frequent physical relations with sex workers and other girls during his overseas tours.

As per a BCCI release, CoA had invited Neeraj Kumar, Former Police Commissioner of Delhi and Head of BCCI Anti-Corruption Unit to investigate the matter: “Mr Neeraj Kumar has submitted his confidential report to the CoA. Based on the conclusions in the said report, the CoA is of the view that no further actions/ proceedings under the BCCI anti-corruption code are warranted in the matter.”

With the revised payment model of the BCCI annual contract Shami will now get INR 3 crores as his annual retainer fee. This is thrice what he used to get in the 2016-17 cycle. Shami will breath a sigh of relief with the news out as his IPL participation had been in jeopardy. He was purchased by Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 2018 auction for INR  3 crores. They had bagged Shami by using the Right to Match card.
