The case lodged against Indian  cricketer Mohammed Shami for domestic violence, following a complaint filed by his wife, was been taken up by the Detective Department of Kolkata’s Lal Bazar Police. According to report in The Indian Express, police have asked BCCI to provide information about Shami’s travel details and particularly his stay in Dubai.

“We have sent a letter to the BCCI and (we are) waiting for their response. We have sought details of his (Shami) tours and routes. We are yet to receive any response from the body,” said Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police (Crime) Praveen Tripathi.

The report also added Shami’s mobile number being seized by the police.

“We have seized the mobile phone and also some documents from the complainant. The mobile will be sent for forensic testing to verify certain things, including the audio clip voice. We will also investigate what network was being used with regard to the mobile and the applications that had been en vogue to communicate with people,” police said.

BCCI so far has not clarified whether the decision of cancelling Shami’s contract will be taken simply on merit or in view of the ongoing controversy involving Shami’s wife.
