MPCA to adhere to BCCI decision on Lodha Committee’s recommendations

MPCA is ready to host IPL matches if they get an opportunity to do so.

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association will adhere to the decision of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the Justice (retd) R M Lodha Committee recommendation to usher in transparency and reforms in cricket, MPCA president Jyotiraditya Scindia said here. “Managing Committee of MPCA has unanimously passed a resolution to follow Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision in toto in connection with former Apex Court Chief Justice RS Lodha committee’s recommendations,” Scindia told reporters yesterday here. “Our association is under BCCI. In the light of Justice Lodha’s recommendation, BCCI will make a blueprint which we will follow,” he added. Asked if there is any possibility of having Indian Premier League’s (IPL) matches in Bhopal in the next edition, he said Scindia said talks are underway but decision in this regard has not been taken yet.

“We are ready to hold IPL matches, if Indore gets the opportunity to host it. We have held IPL matches successfully earlier,” he added.

Meanwhile,BCCI is set to suffer a financial loss to the tune of Rs 1600 crore if Lodha Panel’s recommendations on curtailing the advertisement breaks during the matches is implemented. According to BCCI balance sheet, the operative revenue currently is approximately Rs 2000 crore, a large chunk of which comes from broadcasting rights and advertisement revenues. But if Lodha Panel recommendation, which wants the advertisements only during “lunch, tea or drinks break”, then it would come down to Rs 400 crore.
