In his first big assignment as captain, he won the inaugural T2 World Cup in 2001, followed it up with a win in the ICC World Cup 2011 at home and also led India  to a win in the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013.

“The Jharkhand government yesterday waived entertainment tax for the biopic on Dhoni, to be released on September 30”, an official said. “Dhoni was born in Ranchi and that is where his journey began. We are extremely thrilled and thankful to the Jharkhand government, who are welcoming the film on Dhoni’s life with such open arms,” Vijay Singh, CEO of Fox Star Studios [producer] told PTI, according to indianexpress.com.  Dhoni announced his Test retirement during the end of 2014 and has since led India only in One-Day Internationals (ODI) and T20Is. After winning the 2011 World Cup, he led India to the semi-final stage of the ICC World Cup 2015 and exited at the same stage in the T20 World Cup 2016, played in India. Dhoni’s next assignment will be to lead India in the ODI series after the ongoing Test series against New Zealand.
