Murali Vijay wants to get back to his form as soon as possible as India is playing as many as 13 Tests at home in the coming months. Vijay who had been to the West Indian tour suffered a thumb injury and as a result had to be sidelined for the second and third Tests. He did make a comeback in the forth Test but it was subsequently rain-washed. With these setbacks on one side Vijay also faces tough competition for his opening position with KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan.  But with these things in mind, Vijay seems t have taken a positivity as he believes that he will make it back into the team. According to cricbuzz.com, Vijay was quoted saying, “”It was quite unfortunate that I got a knock on my thumb in the first Test and didn’t get a chance in the next two games. But that is in the past now. I have set a standard in opening the innings and I have to keep on pulling that standard up. I know that there is long stretch of home Test series and I am definitely putting in something extra. I will be looking at the opponent bowlers and plan accordingly. My approach towards the game remains the same. I have been never complacent and have always strived to better my performance.” READ: Play called off as rain plays spoilsport; WI clinch series 1-0

With KL Rahul becoming the top contender for the opening spot and Dhawan and himself being tied up for the other position, Vijay said, “I know there are Rahul and Dhawan. But I don’t see this as a competition. We are all on the same page when it comes to playing for India. If I get an opportunity, I will give my best and I am sure it is the same with both Rahul and Dhawan.”

Vijay also expressed his feelings about how he had an amazing time while sharing the dressing room with Anil Kumble and also that he got a chance to meet Sir Viv Richards. Moreover, Vijay who is also currently busy with Lyca Kovai Kings’ commitments in Tamil Nadu Premier League will be joining India Green side for Duleep Trophy which is currently going on with Pink ball for the first time in India.

“It’s a great initiative and it is aimed to bring in excitement to Test cricket. I am thrilled at the prospect of playing in pink ball cricket,” said Vijay.
