Murali Vijay and Shikhar have put on 50 for the opening wicket on Day 1 of the third Test at Nagpur. The duo put on an unbeaten 80-run stand in the second Test at Bengaluru, but they could not add to it as rain played spoilsport for the remaining four days. Dhawan has made a quiet start, but it is Vijay, who has kicked on and made a solid start. Dhawan has not been in good form of late and was dismissed for 12 after he was caught and bowled by Dean Elgar. Dhawan place will be under scrutiny with likes of KL Rahul waiting on the flanks. South Africa have bowled reasonably well. They started with Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada. The ball was initially getting good carry, but after a few overs, it went at one bounce to the ‘keeper. Off-spinner Simon Harmer and slow left-arm bowler Dean Elgar are getting some good turn on. When Harmer bowled, there was some puff of dust, which suggests there will be a lot of turn.
