N Srinivasan re-elected TNCA president

Chennai: Former BCCI president N Srinivasan was on Saturday re-elected unanimously as the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) chief at the 86th Annual General Meeting. This is the 15th consecutive time that he has been elected as the chief of the state cricket body. Srinivasan has been heading the TNCA since 2002-03 when he ended former BCCI President AC Muthiah’s reign. He has been in the line of fire ever since the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal which has rocked the Indian cricket. The 71-year-old was forced to step aside as BCCI chief after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was found to be involved in betting by a Supreme Court-appointed inquiry committee. Tamil Nadu Premier League: TNCA reveals duration, salary cap

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) revealed yet more information on the much in news Tamil Nadu Premier League. The first season of the tournament, as disclosed by TNCA, is slated for the end of August to mid-September this year. The association also mentioned the players’ salary cap amount. Many players, who have represented India, are expected to be a part of the newly planned tournament along with the state players which will help the latter gather experience and improve their game. While the senior players will get Rs 5 lakh each, state level players are about to get Rs 2.50 lakh and those who are yet to make a state debut, will get capped for Rs 1 lakh. As reported by Cricbuzz, a TNCA official further revealed, “It is a great opportunity for players from the districts to showcase to showcase their talent. The tournament seems to be generating a lot of buzz across the state. On May 1, we commence the tender processes for franchise and media rights. With regards to franchise rights, the last date for the availability of tender document will be May 25. The award for franchise will be on June 9. For media rights, the last date of tender availability will be May 15 while opening of tender will on May 26.”
