Nepal beat Namibia by 3 wickets as skipper Paras Khadka scores maiden A-list ton

Nepal skipper Paras Khadka comes to the rescue as he went on to score his first List A century against Namibia in ongoing ICC World Cricket Championship match at the Tribhuvan University ground at Kirtipur. He was denied an ODI century as Nepal is not yet a recognised ODI playing nation. The game proved to be a nail biter going right down the last over with Nepal triumphing over Namibia with one ball to spare. He had support from teammate Sharad Vesawkar scoring an unbeaten 74 to take the team home. The skipper reached his maiden A-list century in 89 balls, he went back to the pavilion scoring 103 off 94 deliveries with the help of five fours and six sixes. Nepal needed were giving a modest target of 240 to which they replied poorly losing both their openers for 37 under 14 overs. After that Namibia needed a partnership, Paras Khadka and Sharad Vesawkar steadied the innings and then started hitting bringing Nepal back into the game. They shared a 167 run stand taking Nepal into a comfortable situation. And then came the batting collapse as skipper got out, four middle order batsmen followed resulting in 5 wickets in a span of 30 runs. But Sharad held on to his end taking Nepal home with one ball to spare.

Earlier Namibia lost the toss and were put to bat. They had a good opening stand of 95 runs between openers Stephen Baard and Zane Green. After that they kept losing wickets at regular intervals failing to capitalise on the opening stand managing to score 239 in 50 overs.
