Nepal to play first-ever match at Lords in July next year

Nepal will play MCC at Lord's in July next year, on the day that will mark 200 years of British-Nepali relations.

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is all set to visit Nepal to play a total of five matches against various sides. The tour will be followed by the Nepal cricket team will playing its first-ever match at the Lord’s cricket ground in July next year, on the day that will mark 200 years of British-Nepali bilateral relationship. “Cricket in Nepal is growing rapidly and Nepal has got a lot of potential. That’s why we feel we should visit Nepal more often than other countries,” MCC Head of Cricket John Stephenson was quoted as saying according to a report on cricnepal.com. “We have kept Nepal on top of the priority list of cricket developing countries. We will help Nepal on other aspects of the game as well,” Stephenson further added according to the report. The trip was in doubt earlier this year due to the series of earthquakes that took place in the country. The MCC’s tour is expected to take place between November 12 and 24.

Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) CEO Bhawana Ghimire expressed her delight at the latest developments, and thanked the MCC for arranging the tour.

 

 

The MCC team is  expected to bring in level 3 coaches for the tour, as added by by Stephenson.
