In the ICC World T20 2014 Group 1 game played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka at Chittagong, New Zealand lost their way by losing wickets to Rangana Herath. The left-arm spinner with an upright seam turned the ball in drier conditions to leave New Zealand in tatters at 33 for six. In particular, James Neesham was out to a beauty that turned to shatter his stumps. The target of 120 looks a long way away now.

Earlier, New Zealand batsmen made a steady start to their innings, while chasing a modest total of 120 runs put up by Sri Lanka. On a slow deck with the dew factor not really coming into play as expected, Sri Lankan pacers too swung the new ball. In particular,  Nuwan Kulasekara swung it a touch back into the right-handed batsmen. Sri Lankan seamers though, don’t complement the swing by hitting the deck hard like their counterparts.

At the right time though, Martin Guptill was run out. He was followed by the captain, Brendon McCullum playing a rash shot to get himself stumped against the bowling off Herath. To make it slight worse for New Zealand, Corey Anderson has dislocated his finger and won’t bat.
