Angelo Mathews and his love affair (or perhaps not) with injuries continue. Sri Lanka’s ODI skipper has now been ruled out of the upcoming Nidahas Trophy 2018.  Mathews injured his calf during training and has to rehabilitate. He had earlier missed the Bangladesh series due to a hamstring injury. According to cricbuzz, a source was quoted saying: “Angelo has been putting in a lot of effort to make himself available for the Nidahas Trophy. He has worked tremendously hard to be fit after being given a strenuous programme to follow. Unfortunately, during one of the training sessions he ended up hurting his calf.” Mathews had missed tours of South Africa, Australia, UAE and Bangladesh last year. He did manage to play the Champions Trophy in England. in between.

Earlier, Shehan Madushanka and Asela Gunaratne were also ruled out due to injuries. The likes of Kusal Perera, Dushmantha Chameera and Nuwan Pradeep are chasing time to get fit ahead of the series. Nidahas Trophy also features India and Bangladesh, that commences on March 6.
