The Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman spent an entire day in a lock-up after allegedly tearing the cop’s uniform after being stopped for violating a traffic signal. He was released on bail on Sunday.
“No special treatment was given to Umar Akmal. Till 2.00 am on Sunday, he was in jail and then was sent on bail,” said Assistant Superintendent of Police Zahid Nawaz, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.
Qadir’s family is said to be disturbed by the recent turn of events. Qadir was reported as saying, “The date for the marriage is not fixed because of the forthcoming Asia Cup.”
