Pakistan were 23 for no loss after five overs with Mohammad Hafeez batting on nine and Ahmed Shehzad on 14 not out in chase of 276 against Sri Lanka in their rain-truncated first ODI. Pakistan need another 252 runs to win from 40 overs.

Pakistan were tamed by Sri Lanka in the Test series and since then the Pakistanis were planning a comeback plot to avenge their defeat. It all started on a good note on Saturday in the first One-Day International (ODI) for Pakistan, as they kept the Sri Lankan openers quiet for the initial overs.

The fast bowlers bowled a good line and length. Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan opened the proceedings for Pakistan. In the first six overs Sri Lanka could only manage 18 runs and also lost the big wicket of Tillakaratne Dilshan.
