Kusal Perera helped Sri Lanka get off to a good start in their run-chase of 260 in the final of the Asia Cup 2014. Perera is partnered by Lahiru Thirimanne.
Pakistan started the bowling with Mohammad Hafeez and he conceded only one run in the first over. Perera got off the mark, while Thirimanne defended the rest of the deliveries. Umar Gul started off from the other end and Perera welcomed him with a crunchy cover-drive for four.
In the second over, Perera carted one through point and Ahmed Shehzad got a hand to it. However, it hit his wrist and he was in a lot of pain. As a result, he had to leave the field. In the third over, Perera flicked one across for four through square-leg.
Umar Gul was then cut behind point for another four by Thirimanne. He then got an edge off a wide one over first slip for a four. In four overs, Sri Lanka are 22 for no loss.
