Mahela Jayawadene has helped Sri Lanka recover after two quick wickets in the Asia Cup 2014 final at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
Jayawardene survived a shot in the 18th over as Umar Akmal appealed for a caught behind. Even Mohammad Hafeez at first slip was interested. However, Akmal’s vociferous appeal did not get a response from the bowler, Shahid Afridi. As a result, the umpire was unmoved. And, off the next ball, Jayawardene carted a six over mid-wicket. It was very well picked up as he pulled a short one into the stands.
Hafeez came on to bowl the 19h over and Jayawardene charged to him and lofted him for four over mid-wicket. That brought up Sri Lanka’s 100.
In 19 overs, they are 102 for two.
