Karachi: Former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Mahmood has said that it will not be easy for Pakistan to play against England in their upcoming series at United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mahmood lauded the England side, saying that the team is riding high on confidence as they are playing aggressive cricket from few months, PakPassion reported. The 40-year-old added that some of the England’s players could prove to be dangerous for Pakistan, adding that it would be a hard-fought series. Mahmood, however, felt that Pakistan could have one advantage over England that is the latter’s weakness against spin, with Pakistan boasting of the spin duo of Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar, who are known to be lethal on the UAE wickets. Meanwhile, reacting on the tainted player Mohammad Aamer’s return to international cricket, Mahmood said that the disgraced player should first play a complete season in domestic cricket before turning towards international cricket. Aamer, along with team-mates Salman Butt and Mohammad Asif, was banned for a period of five years and also served three months in a British prison for his involvement in the spot-fixing scandal that broke out during Pakistan’s tour of England in 2010.
Pakistan will play three Tests, four ODIs and three T20 internationals against England, starting from October 13. England finished their second warm-up fixture against the Junaid Khan-led Pakistan A team at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. James Anderson (4 for 16) and Adil Rashid (3 for 53) were the main highlights of the second warm-up fixture as Pakistan A were restricted to 192 for 12. England however, flopped in their innings as they barely managed to get a six-run lead before getting bowled out, thanks to Mir Hamza’s 4 for 34.
