The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to shift venue of Pakistan’s women team matches of the upcoming Women’s Cricket World Cup from Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in the wake of the growing tension between India and Pakistan following the exchange of fire at the Line of Control (LoC).
According to a report in the Zee News, the BCCI chose Ahmedabad as the alternative for the Pakistan women’s matches. India will be hosting the women’s World Cup for the third time after 1978 and 1997. The tournament begins on January 31. Eight teams will compete in the event.
Recently the Pakistan’s men team completed a successful limited-overs series as the bilateral cricket relations between the two countries resumed after a gap of five years.
