The lack of involvement of former Pakistan cricketers in growth of country’s cricket has been criticised recently and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have taken the criticism seriously, appointing former speedster Shoaib Akhtar their brand ambassador. He then added,

The destructive Pakistan pacer was associated with IPL during the twilight of his career and later mentored Lahore Qalandars in the latest season of Pakistan Super League (PSL).

“I am really happy to be given this position because I have always wanted to do something for Pakistan cricket. We have great talent but a structure that needs improvement,” he said.

Akhtar said that he had accepted the position because he felt that Sethi sincerely wanted to do good for Pakistan cricket and the success of the PSL was proof of this. Akhtar also called for former players’ involvement in helping the board function well.

PCB chief is also expected to announce former captain, Misbah-ul-Haq, as another advisor.
