It’s been a splendid performance by the Simon Katich-led Perth Scorchers to win their first Big Bash League title. Hobart Hurricanes started off well, but lack of partnerships in the middle hurt their cause. Read our match report here.

There it is! Perth Scorchers have won the Big Bash title for the first time in the history! It’s been an all-round show as they put up runs on the board and did not allow Hobart Hurricanes to put up any fight in the second innings.
Perth Scorchers beat Hobart Hurricanes by 39 runs.
Dmitri Mascarenhas tries to clear the in-field but mistimes the shot and Simon Katich takes an easy catch.

Hobart Hurricanes now need 52 off 12 balls, which is certainly an improbable task.
Mascarenhas hits a six over the long-off area and Behrendorff drops a catch on the final ball. Not many worries for the Scorchers as they are cruising towards a huge win.

Hurricanes are in deep trouble! Alfonso Thomas removes Evan Gulbis as the sixth wicket falls.

Bailey walks across the stumps and hits a boundary to complete his half-century in the final. The right-handed batsman follows it up with same result on the next delivery. But Cummins has the last laugh as he gets him caught by Alfonso Thomas at long-on.

Bailey gets a boundary off the mid-off region, but the Hurricanes need many of those. 87 more runs needed off six overs.
Hogg strikes again! He gets Travis Birt caught at the deep square-leg boundary as Hurricanes slip further. They now need 96 runs to win from 42 balls.

George Bailey smashes 10 runs off the last two balls off Nathan Coulter-Nile as Hobart add crucial 14 runs to their total.

Brad Hogg strikes as Perth Scorchers gain command! The veteran spinner gets Jonathan Wells stumped on the second ball of the 10th over to put more pressure on the Hurricanes. Only two runs scored off Hogg.

Hobart Hurricanes are under tremendous pressure as the asking rate is close to 12 now. 12 runs come off Cummins’s second over of the game, which included a six by George Bailey.

Eventful over from Brad Hogg. The left-arm bowler keeps it tight as Hobart batsmen could scramble for only five runs off it.

Pat Cummins is introduced in the attack and 12 runs are scored off him. Jonathan Wells gets a boundary off the last ball through an outside edge.

Veteran spinner Brad Hogg comes into the attack and straightaway produces a chance. George Bailey sweeps but gets a top-edge, Mitchell Marsh comes in but fails to take the catch. Hobart Hurricanes need 145 more runs to win.
Behrendorff strikes again! This time the lanky left-arm pacer gets rid of the dangerous-looking Ben Dunk as Hobart Hurricanes have slipped further. Hobart Hurricanes need 150 more runs to win.

Alfonso Thomas keeps it tight but a misfield off the penultimate balls of the over gets a boundary to Hurricanes. Seven runs added from that over. Hobart Hurricanes need 160 more runs to win.
Behrendorff strikes! the left-arm pacer cleans up Hurricanes’ opener Tim Paine tp provide his side the first breakthrough. Hobart Hurricanes need 167 more runs to win.

Only three runs scored in the second over of the innings. Jason Behrendorff makes an impressive start. Hobart Hurricanes need 181 more runs to win.

Craig Simmons started the proceedings for the Perth Scorchers, and the Marsh brothers helped their side to a strong total in the first innings. Mitchell Marsh smashes consecutive boundaries off Doug Bollinger as the Scorchers add another 10 runs, off the penultimate over of the game.
Marsh brothers rip apart Mascarenhas! Mitchell smashes three sixes off the first three balls and Shaun gets a boundary, as 24 runs come off the over.
Adam Voges is dismissed off a short ball as Hilfenhaus bags his first wicket in the game. Mitchell Marsh joins his brother Shaun at the crease.

Shaun Marsh completes his half-century with a boundary off Boyce. The Scorchers would now be aiming for couple of big hits as only four overs are remaining in the innings.
Impressive over by Doug Bollinger as he doesn’t allow the Perth batsmen to free up their arms. Nine runs scored off the 15th over of the innings through singles and doubles.
Another good over for the Scorchers as 10 runs are scored off Doherty’s second over of the game. Perth will aim to continue the momentum and not lose their way in the final couple of overs.
Shaun Marsh clobbers two sixes off Cameron Boyce as Perth are recovering fast after the big blow.
Xavier Doherty is introduced into the attack. Marsh and Voges will now look to lead the recovery. Six runs scored off the 12th over.
Big wicket!!! Simmons slashes one outside the off stump and Mascarenhas takes an easy catch at third man region off Boyce. Hobart Hurricanes have got the wicket they wanted the most! Adam Voges is the new man in, and he starts off with a boundary.

Simmons cracks a boundary off Boyce towards the deep square leg region as Perth add another eight runs to their total.
Shaun Marsh lifts one over the midwicket for a huge six off Bollinger as Perth are now looking to accelerate their innings. Another nine runs added to the total.
Cameron Boyce comes into the attack. Perth batsmen scramble for six more runs.
Doug Bollinger comes into the attack as Hobart lose another opportunity to get rid of the dangerous Simmons. The left-hander hits one straight high in the air, and Evan Gulbis, placed near the boundary, sees the ball go through his hands for a six. Another good over for Scorchers as 11 runs come off it.
An eventful over by Mascarenhas. Simmons thrashes a six and a boundary to get into the groove but mistimes as well, as Xavier Doherty runs in hard from long-on and misses to grab the opportunity.
Simmons opens up as he clobbers one down the wicket off Hilfenhaus, as follows it up with another towards the third-man region. 10 runs scored off Hilfenhaus’s third over.
Katich is out first ball! Ben Dunk takes a simple catch at covers to get rid of Perth Scorchers’ captain. Katich falls for six off nine deliveries, Mascarenhas strikes early.

Hilfenhaus continues the good work from one end as Perth batsmen manage only three runs off the third over of the innings.
SImon Katich hits one over the covers to take three runs. However, the fourth ball produces an opportunity as a edge off Katich’s bat flies past the first slip. Six runs scored off Dmitri Mascarenhas’s over.
Impressive start by Hobart Hurricanes’ bowler Ben Hifenhaus as only three runs are scored in the first over of the final.
