The working committee is the most powerful decision-making body in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). In fact, any decision taken by every other committee has to be ratified by the working committee. On Sunday, though, an emergent meeting of this all-powerful committee was reduced to a farce. If Sharad Pawar’s revelations aren’t shocking enough, then read this. A member, who represented North Zone, — was there as per the board’s rotation policy — actually made a mockery of the meeting.
“I don’t know who nominates such jokers to a meeting of such prominence. We were all there trying to save the BCCI from further embarrassment. But on Sunday, I realised that the BCCI is one big circus. All they want is to scratch each other’s back. Nobody is interested in cleaning up the mess. I wonder why the chair did not raise an objection to such a stupid suggestion.”
