Zimbabwe off-spinner Prosper Utseya has been reported for a suspect bowling action after the recently concluded One-Day International (ODI) series against neighbours, South Africa. Utseya was reported at the end of the third ODI in Bulawayo by the on field umpires and a report was filed by the match referee.

In press release by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the match officials report, which was given to Zimbabwe team manager Stanley Chioza stated that Utseya’s arm ball and quicker delivery raised concerns over the legitimacy of the delivery. With Zimabwe mired knee-deep in controversies, Utseya has been one of the mainstays in in the revival of cricket in his country. This was the first time in his decade long career, which has seen him play 156 ODIs for his country that legality of his deliveries has come under the scanner.

The ICC release also read that Utseya has to undergo a 21-day testing period, during which he can participate in all forms of cricket before the results are released.
