Ranjan Madugalle completes 500 international matches as match referee

Ranjan Madugalle completed his 500th match as a match referee in international cricket. He was given a momento to mark this special occasion, in the second One-Day International (ODI) between England and India at Cardiff. India won the match by 133 runs on D/L method, helped considerably by a century by Suresh Raina. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers getting four wickets for 48 runs.
Ranjan Madugalle played 21 Tests and 63 ODIs for Sri Lanka, scoring 1029 runs in Tests, and 950 runs in ODIs. He was made an ICC match referee in 1993.
