Karnataka have gone into lunch on Day Three of their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 quarter-final against Uttar Pradesh at 97 for five. Earlier in the day, they bowled out Uttar Pradesh for 221, which gave them a lead of 128 runs.
Abhimanyu Mithun and R VInay Kumar shared the spoils during the Uttar Pradesh innings after Karnataka put up 349 in the first innings. Later, when Karantaka walked out to bat, they were rocked early as they lost Robin Uthappa for a duck in the very first over.
Vinay Kumar came in at No 3 and was dismissed soon after. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and it was only Lokesh Rahul who held firm.
As lunch approach, Karnataka had lost half their side, but Rahul completed his fifty.
Karnataka 349 and 97 for 5 (Lokesh Rahul 50 not out; Ankit Rajpoot 2 for 17, Ali Murtuza 2 for 24) lead Uttar Pradesh 221 (Parvinder Singh 92, Piyush Chawla 56; Abhimanyu Mithun 4 for 70, R Vinay Kumar 3 for 49) by 225 runs.
