Manish Pandey fell after scoring 36 as Karnataka extended their first innings lead to 75 after 114 overs, on Day Three of the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 final against Maharashtra at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The innings has been built on the tons of Lokesh Rahul, Ganesh Sathish and a good half-century by Robin Uthappa.
Early in the afternoon session, Uthappa was out as he chased a wide one from Shrikant Mundhe and spooned a catch to point. The substitute fielder, Rahul Tripathy took the catch.
Since Uthappa’s dismissal, Manish Pandey has taken control, although the run-scoring hasn’t been very brisk. He did however, managed to put Akshay Darekar under pressure immediately as he charged to him and hit him for four down the ground. In fact, Pandey has been trying to do that to the spinners.
Maharashtra 305 trail Karnataka 380 for 4 (Robin Uthappa 72, KL Rahul 131, Ganesh Sathish 117, Manish Pandey 36; Shrikant Mundhe 2 for 79, Chirag Khurana 1 for 77) by 75 runs.
