Karnataka have gone into tea on Day Three of their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 against Uttar Pradesh at 182 for eight. They are currently leading by 310 runs and Lokesh Rahul is unbeaten on 86.
Rahul has kept Karnataka in the hunt. As Uttar Pradesh struck early, there was a stand between CM Gautam and Rahul which took them past 150. Their lead is now past 300. Karnataka led by 225 runs at lunch on Day Three.
As Karnataka had lost five with 73 on the board, Gautam joined Rahul in the centre. Their stand was spirited but it came to an end with Gautam on 36. Rahul though continued and took them past 175 and as a result their lead went above 300.
Karnataka have lost seven wickets, but Rahul is still going strong. And, through that, they have managed to put up a huge total. Uttar Pradesh will not find it easy chasing it down in the fourth innings. When they went into tea at 182 for eight, Abhimanyu Mithun joined Rahul.
Karnataka 349 and 182 for 8 (Lokesh Rahul 85*; Ankit Rajpoot 2 for 17, Ali Murtuza 2 for 44) lead Uttar Pradesh 221 (Parvinder Singh 92, Piyush Chawla 56; Abhimanyu Mithun 4 for 70, R Vinay Kumar 3 for 49) by 310 runs.
