Mumbai have gone into lunch on Day Three of their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 quarter-final against Maharashtra at 17 for two after taking a 122-run lead. The Maharashtra tail-enders fought hard and continued their fight and extended their challenge to 280. Earlier, Mumbai had been bowled out for 402 on Day Two.
It was Shardul Thakur’s six for 86 that helped Mumbai take the huge lead. There was a good partnership building between Akshay Darekar and Shrikant Mundhe. However, Thakur returned to wrap up that partnership.
After Maharashtra started bowling, Mumbai lost Wasim Jaffer early for a duck. Later, Samad Fallah dismissed Kaustubh Pawar as he edged to third-slip. Mumbai are 139 runs ahead currently.
Mumbai 402 and 17 for 2 (Aditya Tare 12*) lead Maharashtra 280 (Ankit Bawne 82, Kedar Jadhav 51; Shardul Thakur 6 for 86) by 139 runs.
