Uttar Pradesh have gone into lunch at 181 for eight in their Ranji Trophy 2013-14 quarter-final against Karnataka at Bangalore. Karnataka are chasing 333 to win and a flurry of wickets in the session has seen them staring at a defeat, although Piyush Chawla is still in the centre and is fighting hard.

The day started with Uttar Pradesh being 55 for one. The overnight batsmen Tanmay Srivastav and Ali Murtuza started decently well. However, R Vinay Kumar first dismissed Srivastav and then Mohammed Kaif was out for his second duck in the game.

There was a bit of a recovery, but then Murtuza and Prashant Gupta in quick succession before Piyush Chawla helped them move past 150.

Chawla continued playing an attacking brand of cricket and was helping Uttar Pradesh recover.
