RAI 117/3 vs BEN

That is the end of day’s play for Railways. They got off to a good start but then lost a few wickets in the process.

That is it from us today. Do log on to cricketcountry.com tomorrow to follow this game.

RAI 103/3 vs BEN

Another wicket goes down for Railways. Bengal must be bouyed by this development.

RAI 102/2 vs BEN

Bengal have hit back with two quick wickets. Kartik has been dismissed for 56, and even Paunikar is out.

RAI 92/0 vs BEN

This is a sterling opening stand for the first wicket here for railways. Murali Kartik has now moved to fifty and has hit four fours and three sixes. He is leading from the front.

RAI 55/0 vs BEN

Now, we have three quarter-finals out of the way and only one is in store. Railways are going well against Bengal as they are chasing 270.

MAH 252/2 vs MUM

Maharashtra have done it! This is a splendid victory and one each member of their side will cherish for ages! Kedar Jadhav finishes things off by pulling one for a four. A great win here.

MAH 230/2 vs MUM

Kedar Jadhav has got to his ton. He chases one from Shardul Thakur and gets a boundary through the off-side. The helmet comes off and he waves his bat to the dressing room and the crowd.

RAI 50/0 vs BEN

Railways are going well at Kolkata and have moved to 50 without the loss of a wicket. Murali Kartik has been batting all the while.

MAH 209/2 vs MUM

History beckons Maharashtra at Wankhede. Jadhav charges to Dabholkar and lofts him for three sixes in an over. He got to the pitch of the ball on each occasion and lofted it quite easily. Now, the required runs are under a hundred.

UP 240 all-out vs KAR

Karnataka are the second team to book their spot in the semi-final. They have bowled Uttar Pradesh out and won by 94 runs.

J&K 223 all out vs PUN

Jammu and Kashmir’s dream run has come to an end as they have been bowled out for 223. Punjab now move to their semi-final at Mohali.

RAI 28/0 vs BEN

A cautious start by Railways in pursuit of a target of 271 against Bengal.

UP 213/8 vs KAR

Uttar Pradesh have lost their eight wicket as Shreyas Gopal gets another man out. That is his fourth wicket. Only two wickets away from victory now. Karnataka have a semi-final berth in sight. In fact, they are nine down now. Gopal has taken his fifth wicket as Chawala is gone.

J&K 202/9 vs PUN

The end is nigh for Jammu and Kashmir. They have lost Mohammad Mudhasir after a spirited innings. Hardeep still fighting out there. Umar Nazir is the last man and this pair is the only one standing between Punjab and victory. That shouldn’t take too long though.

UP 208/7 vs KAR

Karnataka finally get the breakthrough as Abhimanyu Mithun dismisses Ekalavya Divedi. Still, Chawla in the centre and 124 runs to win the game.

J&K 200/8 vs PUN

Jammu and Kashmir are fighting hard. Having gone into lunch at 152 for eight, they have now gone to 200. Only a matter of two good deliveries Punjab would say, but then this will make them a little worried.

MAH 144/2 vs MUM

Maharashtra are running away with this contest. After Jadhav got to his half century, Zol has now moved to fifty as he has now gone to his milestone as an edge went to the boundary. Ohh what is Kaustubh Pawar thinking now? Only 108 required to win.

RAI 16/0 vs BEN

Surprise surprise! Murali Kartik has walked out to open the batting with Amit Paunikar. And Railways have moved to 16 for no loss. Railways have enough time on their hands to chase 271.

UP 203/6 vs KAR

Uttar Pradesh have started well after lunch thanks to Piyush Chawla. only 130 runs adrift. Is there a miracle on the cards?

MAH 131/2 vs MUM

Zol and Jadhav are moving nicely after lunch here and have already essayed a few good strokes. Shardul Thakur is getting the ball to trouble the batsmen a touch, but they are happy to defend while facing him.

J&K 174/8 vs PUN

Hardeep Singh apparently has a fractured finger, but is continuing to fight a lone battle with the Punjab bowlers. A few good strokes by the two batsmen out there has taken Jammu and Kashmir to 174 for eight.

BEN 267 all out vs RAI

Bengal have been bowled out for 267 and that leaves Railways with 270 to get to win this contest and move to the semi-finals. Anureet Singh is the star for the day with 5 for 72.

BEN 255/9 vs RAI

Bengal have lost their ninth wicket at Kolkata soon after lunch. So, they still lead by 258.

MAH 111/2 vs MUM

Maharashtra are cruising at Wankhede Stadium. Vijay Zol and Kedar Jadhav have taken them to a good spot at lunch.

UP 181/6 vs KAR

Piyush Chawla continues to fight. But, Uttar Pradesh are still a long distance away from victory at Bangalore. They still require 152 runs to win. However, there is some fight in Chawla and he would keep them in the hunt.

J&K 148/8

Jammu and Kashmir’s hopes are fading with each passing minute. VRV Singh has got another wicket and now Punjab are only three away from victory. Hardeep Singh will now come back. The injured batsman may be the lone standing man for his team in the centre.

And then, Jammu and Kashmir lose another. Now 148 for eight. Punjab finishing things off nicely.

BEN 255/8 vs UP

Bengal have gone into lunch at 255 for eight on Day Four. They thus have a lead of 258 at Kolkata.

J&K 134/6

Rasool is gone. VRV Singh dismissed him leg-before and then got the next batsman as well. This has been a very good comeback for VRV this season. The man has battled injuries over the years, but is here to do his best.

MAH 82/2 vs MUM

Maharashtra have gradually taken control of proceedings as Zol and Jadhav have essayed a few good strokes and found boundaries. Zaheer Khan is shuffling his bowlers around a bit.

BEN 247/8 vs RAI

Against our expectations, Bengal have stretched their lead past 250 as Ashok Dinda is using the long handle in the middle. This is a good psychological barrier that they have overhauled.

J&K 123/4 vs PUN

Jammu and Kashmir are in some trouble at Vadodra against Punjab. Ram Dayal has been bowled by Sandeep Sharma. Parvez Rasool is still there. But, effectively they are 123 for five as Hardeep was retired hurt.

UP 139/6 vs KAR

Karnataka are now very much in command at Bangalore as Parvinder Singh has now been dismissed. Piyush Chawla has walked out to the centre.

BEN 218/8 vs RAI

Saurashish Lahiri is now dismissed by Murali Kartik. Railways are tightening the noose at Kolkata and would be trying to restrict Bengal. The mark of 250 seems too far now.

UP 134/5 vs KAR

Uttar Pradesh have lost their fifth wicket. Shreyas Gopal is the man doing the damage again. Prashant Gupta is the man who has to walk back to the hut as he edged one.

J&K 113/3 vs PUN

Hardeep Singh, the Jammu and Kashmir batsman has to return to the pavillion retired hurt. A ball from VRV Singh hit him on the gloves and the game was a bit held up before he chose to go off. And now, Rasool comes in.

BEN 214/7 vs RAI

Big wicket for Railways again. Wriddhiman Saha is gone for 81. He tried to go for a pull shot, but unfortunately, he only managed to drag it back onto his woodwork.

UP 125/4 vs KAR

Uttar Pradesh have slipped further after a mini-recovery. They had lost two early on, but now Shreyas Goal comes back into the attack and bowls Ali Murtuza. Parvinder Singh walks out to bat.

J&K 110/3 vs PUN

After the early loss of Ian Dev Singh, Jammu and Kashmir have stabilised a bit and are going well. Manpreet Gony is bowling and the batsmen have to contend with him.

MAH 51/2 vs MUM

A good contest between bat and ball at the Wankhede Stadium. Mumbai could have had a third as Vijay Zol played away from the body and was dropped by Kaustubh Pawar at extra cover. Abhishek Nayar was the bowler on that occasion. Kedar Jadhav has come in to replace Khadiwale and a lot of the pressure would be on him.

UP 86/3 vs KAR

Karnataka have taken their first wicket on the fourth morning. Tanmay Srivastava has been dismissed by skipper R Vinay Kumar. The target is tricky but Karnataka need to keep chipping away. Uttar Pradesh now need a good knock to take them through. But, Mohammed Kaif comes in and gets his second duck of the game. That is a pair for him. Uttar Pradesh in trouble.

MAH 37/2 vs MUM

Maharashtra have lost a wicket early. And, again a huge wicket for Mumbai as Harshad Khadiwale heads back. Zaheer came from round the wicket and banged it in short. Khadiwale tried to get out of the way, but instead gloved it and the ball was caught in the slips. A good start for Mumbai.

J&K 80/3 vs UP

Jammu and Kashmir have been jolted early as Ian Dev Singh has been dismissed by Manpreet Singh Gony. Interestingly, Parvez Rasool hasn’t come out to bat yet and the news we are getting is that Ram Dayal has walked in to face the music.

BEN 150/5 vs RAI

Bengal’s man main, Laxmi Ratan Shukla has been dismissed after playing a good knock. Huge wicket for Railways first up. This should pep them up for the day at Kolkata. Remember, Bengal lead by only three runs. Shukla has been dismissed for 76 and Krishnakant Upadhyay is the man who gets his wicket. Huge scalp!

Welcome to CricketCountry’s coverage of the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 quarter-finals. What an exhilarating day’s play we had yesterday. Wickets falling all-over and as we brace for Day Four, we should have three results. Maharashtra need another 224 to register a remarkable win over Mumbai at the Wankhede Stadium. Bengal are trying to setup a total for the Railways at Kolkata. Meanwhile, in Bangalore, Uttar Pradesh need 278 more to beat Karnataka and have nine wickets in hand. And lastly, Jammu and Kashmir need 247 more runs to beat Punjab at Vadodra.

So, sit back on a cool Saturday and follow our coverage of what should be a remarkable day for Indian domestic cricket.
