Punjab are close to victory over Jammu and Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy 2013-14 quarter-final at Vadodra. Chasing 324 runs to win, Jammu and Kashmir started Day Four at 77 for two and were then rocked by the Punjab pace battery and entered lunch at 152 for eight.
Ian Dev Singh was the first to ball in the day and it was quite surprising that Ram Dayal entered the stage instead. The partnership between Hardeep Singh and Dayal held on for a while and helped Jammu and Kashmir go past 100.
However, Hardeep was retired hurt as a ball from VRV Singh hit him and he had to retire. It was only then that Parvez Rasool came out to the centre.
However, Jammu and Kashmir kept losing wickets and once Rasool fell for 10, their hopes effectively ended. Hardeep did come out to bat at the fall of the seventh wicket.
