Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Day 2, Round 3, match results and highlights: Bengal in driver’s seat against Punjab

After putting up a good total, Bengal did well with the ball to clinch early wickets against Punjab in Round 2 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Bengal had finished Day One with good runs on the board at stumps and continued that to get to a total of 404 all out on Day Two. Sayan Shekhar Mandal scored a magnificent 135 while Agniv Pan contributed with 70 and Sudip Chatterjee added 51. Manoj Tiwari’s 45 was also a good addition to the team total as they ended Day One. Bowling on Day Two, it was young Amit Kuila who displayed brilliant skills, taking 3 wickets. Veteran Ashoke Dinda got a single wicket as a heavyweight Punjab batting as reduced to 168 for 4 at stumps of Day Two. Opener Jiwanjot Singh departed for a golden duck while Manan Vohra fell for 23. It was Uday Kaul for Punjab who showed good cricket, remaining unbeaten at 70 at the end of the day. Yuvraj Singh also disappointed with just 22 runs while Gurkeerat Mann got 18. As Punjab commence their batting on Day Three, Taruwar Kohli will bat at 26 with Kaul.
