Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Day 2, Round 4, match results and highlights: Ishank Jaggi’s century keeps Jharkhand ahead in league

Jharkhand who ended the innings at 146 on Day 1, were on stronger side as they ended at 362 for 8 with Vidarbha starting their second innings on Day 2 of Round 4 of Ranji Trophy 2016-17. It was Ishank Jaggi’s century that kept Jharkhand’s ahead in the match. Anand Singh and Pratyush Singh, who achieved their fifties, were dismissed early on in the game for 76 and 86 respectively. Saurabh Tiwary missed his half-century and was dismissed for 45. If there was anyone who carried the game forward was Jaggi with his century and remained unbeaten. Vidarbha began their second innings and put up 48 on board. The opening batsmen Sanjay Ramaswamy and Faiz Fazal are racing towards fifty-run stand for opening partnership. Vikash Singh of Jharkhand, who got a four wicket-haul, remained wicketless at the end of the innings. Jharkhand will look for early wickets and wrap up the game by Day 3. Earlier, when Vidarbha began the innings, none of the batsmen went past the fifty mark and posted grand total on board. Jitesh Sharma was the only one who was the highest scorer for the side.

Jharkhand’s Ajay Yadav as well as Ashish Kumar also got wickets to bowl out Vidarbha for 105. Vidarbha are now trailing by 209 runs and have 10 wickets to spare. If they can manage to take the lead and change the course of the game, Jharkhand will be in for a shocker.
