Karnataka have been bowled out for 414 by Delhi on Day Two of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17, Round 3 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, thereby securing a lead of 324 runs. Karnataka had a slender 41-lead going into Day Two, having scored 131 for 3 after bowling Delhi out for a cheap score of 90. There were contributions from almost everyone in the Karnataka batting line-up. But it was wicketkeeper CM Gautam, who top-scored with an unbeaten 63 R Samarth, Kaunain Abbas and stand in skipper Karun Nair too scored fifties to lift Karnataka’s total. Ishant Sharma, Pawan Suyal and Manan Sharma picked up a wicket apiece. On Day One, four wickets from Sreenath Aravind and three from K Gowtham had dismissed for Delhi for 90. Skipper Gautam Gambhir fell cheaply for just 2 and only three players reached double figures. Delhi wil have to bat extremely well, if they are to avoid innings defeat on Day Three. They need to score 324 or more to make Karnataka bat again. Karnataka are without their regular skipper Vinay Kumar, who was ruled out of the contest due to an injury. Karnataka secured a draw in their first game of the season against Jharkhand before this.
