Tripura seam bowler Rana Dutta notched up his career-best figure of 6/58, while Himachal Pradesh are risking themselves to an innings defeat during their Ranji Trophy match at the Bengal Cricket Academy ground on Saturday. Tripura skipper Manisankar Murasingh scored a crucial 84 he guided his team to a mammoth 549, while he also rattled the HP batting line-up, by claiming the important twin wickets of Prashant Chopra (9) and Nikhil Gangta (17), as in just 23 overs, HP were struggling at 74/2. Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh had three batsmen, who scored half-centuries in the form of Ankush Bains (67), Robin Bist (88) and skipper Rishi Dhawan (62). Following on, Himachal Pradesh were 19/1 at close on the penultimate day, still needing 219 runs to avoid an innings defeat. Murasingh returned with 2/62 in the first innings and once again gave a breakthrough in Himachal Pradesh’s second innings, dismissing Pankaj Jaiswal for eight in his first over. At close, Bains was unbeaten on six, with Chopra yet to face a ball. Patel could not add to his overnight score of 111 and was dismissed by Pankaj Jaiswal. Ghosh had already slammed a career best score of 146 on Day One to put his side in control initially. There were however last contributions with the bat as well.
